The Hounds lost a thriller on Saturday night to the Cheney Blackhawks 45-41. The Hounds came out hot and ended the first quarter with an 11-5 lead, but struggled scoring in the second and third while Cheney took off. By the end of the third Cheney lead 32-26. The Hounds fought back though in the 4th to bring the game within two, but they fouled and sent a Cheney player to the line. She went on to make both free throws, and with only two seconds left on the clock Pullman was not able to comeback and lost 45-41. Haley Pemberton led Cheney with 12 points, while her teammate Peyton Stark tallied 10 of her own. Both Becca Wickard and Kelsey Nestegard had 7 points for Pullman. The Hounds now fall to 0-3 in league play, while Cheney is 2-3. The Hounds look to get their first league win against West Valley on Tuesday.
The Hounds traveled down to Clarkston last night to face the Bantams, but unfortunately lost 55-37. Jaclyn Meyers led Clarkston with 18 points and 10 rebounds and was aided 11 points from Alea Wohl. Becca Wickard led the Hounds with 8 points and 5 rebounds. Pullman stuggled after the first quarter and fell behind early in the second. The next game is Saturday, January 9th at home. In the first round of the Freeman tournament the Hounds played Northwest Christian. Becca Wickard and Maddi Muller both scored 18 points as the Hound won 68-48. In the 2nd and championship round the Hounds played Freeman. Kenzie Druffel put up 14 points and the Hounds took the winning title with a score of 57-39. Becca Wickard was also awarded The Greg Larson MVP. The girls’ are now looking to take this winning streak forward as they play Cheney for the first time this season on Thursday, January, 9th.
