The boys' basketball team opened the season on the road at 3A-foe North Central. The Hounds took the lead early with seniors Konner Kinkade and Jacob Wells knocking down threes in the opening possessions. The boys led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter and all the momentum carried over to the second quarter as the Hounds outscored North Central 18-5. That scoring attack was led by league MVP Jake Wells who scored 20 points in the first half, advancing the Hounds to a 32-15 halftime lead. In the second half, the amount of depth would show for the hounds as Wells and Strong picked up a couple quick early fouls and found themselves on the bench. Late in the third quarter, junior Ethan Kramer knocked down a huge three to kill the North Central run and gave the Hounds a 15-point lead right at the end of the quarter. The free throw shooting by the Hounds kept North Central in the game; the Hounds missed eight consecutive free throws. But Ethan Kramer and Tim Watts came up big by hitting three combined three pointers in the fourth quarter which propelled the hounds to a 53-42 win.
