The Hounds worked their way back from a 0-2 deficit to win the rivalry against Moscow 3-2. In the last three sets the Hounds offense and defense clicked, with help from senior outside hitter Melissa Langerveld, who had 22 kills, the Hounds were able to beat the Bears winning the last three sets 25-21, 25-8, and 15-10. Senior libero Logan Bledsoe led the team in digs, with 28 to help the Hounds defensively. The Hounds showed determination in the last sets to come back and beat the Bears. The Hounds next game is September 29th when they take on the West Valley Eagles at home.
Welcome to the Pound
The Hounds volleyball team breaks in the new gym with a sweep over Clarkston. Melissa Langerveld led the team on offense with 9 kills, while defensively Sydney Lawrence led the team with 7 blocks. The Hounds are now 6-4 overall and 1-0 at home, while Clarkston drops to 1-1 overall and 0-1 on the road. The Hounds next game is Thursday, September 24th in Cheney. Their next home game is September 29th.
Greyhounds Move to Regionals
Last Saturday, the Greyhound volleyball team traveled to districts after a great regular season record of 8-6 (7-5 GNL). Hounds defeated West Valley in 3-sets, in a loser-out match where they moved on to face the Cheney Blackhawks. Pullman won the first set 25-17, and after Cheney won the second set, 18-25, Pullman stuck it out to defeat the Blackhawks 3-1. Once Pullman sealed their way to regionals, they moved on to face East Valley in the title match of the District 7 2A tournament. Shalyn Stack had 14 kills and 7 digs and Emily Sior added 34 assists as East Valley defeated Pullman 3-0. After winning two out of the three matches on Saturday, Pullman advances on to regionals and will play for a chance at state on Saturday, November 8th at Selah High against teams from the Central Washington Athletic Conference.
Hounds Fall Short in 5-Sets
Tuesday night the Cheney Blackhawks traveled to Pullman to face the Greyhounds in one last game before heading to districts. The Hounds were able to fight it out to the last set behind the clutch playing of Chelsea Bone; Bone stacked up 27 assists and 4 aces playing against the Blackhawks. Going into the 5th set, the Hounds had great momentum on their side after winning the fourth. The Blackhawks were just too hot to handle as they took the win over the Greyhounds after a 15-12 battle. After the last regular season game, the Greyhounds record stands at 8-6 (7-5 in The Great Nothern League). In order for the Hounds to keep their state hopes alive, their next step is to win districts.
