The Pullman Greyhounds Soccer team had a successful week of soccer. After dropping their first game of the week on Monday, September 19th, against Clarkston with a score of 5-0, the Greyhounds bounced back with two wins in a row later in the week. On Wednesday, September 21st the Greyhounds hosted West Valley in search for their first league win of the season. Abby Tingstad started the scoring off with a corner kick goal in 32nd minute. That goal would provide momentum and confidence for the Greyhounds as they scored again in the 51st minute off of another corner kick assist from Abby Tingstad to a Hannah Hawk header that would further their lead to 2-0. The Greyhounds then were able to hold off the Eagles and only allow one goal in the 69th minute. The Greyhounds captured their first league victory since October 24th, 2015.
Following their first league win, the Greyhounds hosted Medical Lake in a non-league match up on Saturday, September 23rd. The Greyhounds started fast with a goal in the 9th minute by Freshman Hailey Talbot. The Greyhounds notched another goal that was scored by Sophomore Peyton Teevens in the 39th minute. The scoring did not stop in the second half. The Greyhounds added two more goals with both coming off of senior Captain Abby Tingstad corner kick assists. Tingstad connected both goals with Junior Brenna Utzman in the 57th and 66th minute. The Greyhounds defense stood strong as the Greyhounds held on to win it with a 4-0 shutout. All of the last six goals that have been scored by the Greyhounds have been off of corner kicks. With the win, the Greyhounds have won two games in-a-row for the first since the 2013 season. This season the Greyhounds have already shown significant improvement, and have advanced their win total by two with an overall record of 3-3. The Greyhounds will look forward to win two league games in a row, as they will host Cheney on Tuesday, September 26th.
Abby Tingstad scored in the 32nd minute and added an assist in the 51st minute as Pullman (2-3, 1-2) beat visiting West Valley (1-4, 1-2) 2-1 in a Great Northern League game on Thursday. Madeline Liberg scored in the 69th minute for the Eagles.
Brenna Utzman scored two goals in the second half and Pullman (3-3) shut out visiting Medical Lake (4-3) 4-0 in nonleague play on Saturday. Abby Tingstad assisted on three goals, all off corner kicks. Jocelyn Gross earned the clean sheet with two saves.
