The Greyhound Football Team traveled to Battle Ground High School, to play Hockinson on Friday, November 10th, with their season on the line. Coming off of an emotional win against Prosser, The Hounds looked to continue the momentum against the third ranked Hawks. The Hounds were up against one of the explosive offensives in the State with the Hawks. After falling behind at half, The Hounds had no answer and fell to the Hawks with a score of 53-18. With lots of players graduated from last year’s squad, there were numerous holes that would had to be filled. This season was one to remember. The season opener in Seattle against Fife, even though it resulted in a loss, showed the potential that this year’s Greyhounds had. The Border Battle game really gave these Greyhounds the belief in their potential. From there on, the Greyhounds competed in every game win or loss. With a team who was picked in the preseason GNL rankings to finish fourth, these Greyhounds felt like this was an insult. With a second place finish in league, and a trip to State on the line. The rematch against Prosser in a crossover game came down to the last play in overtime, and would wind up being the most exciting and memorable game of the season. The 2017 Pullman Greyhound Football Team, went through adversity, numerous injuries, hard defeats, and memorable games. With back to back State appearances, The Greyhounds will be looking to get back next year and make it three years in a row since they had that same stretch of six consecutive State appearances from 2003-2008. Congratulations to the 2017 Pullman Greyhound Football Team, and all of the accomplishments they made this year.
