Wednesdays meet against Cheney was important to many on the Pullman Cross Country, it was senior night. For nineteen Pullman runners this is the last time they will ever run on this course ever again. The JV boys started the day off with Sophomore Asher Cousins winning the race with a time of 18:49, this will put him on varsity for the next race.
Up next were the girls, trying to have one last chance to claim the league title that they have held for the past three years. Unfortunately, the girls fell just short losing by seven points (25-32). Even with the lost Junior Jenna Herzog won the meet with a time of 20:29, and Senior Charity Cordova finished third with a time of 21:22.
Finally, there was the varsity boys, Pullman and Cheney were both undefeated and very close in points throughout the league. When these two teams face it’s always a close and intense battle. Last year the score was 28-29, with it all really coming down to Eliason Kabasenche (Pullman) beating Bas Holland (Cheney) in the final sprint. On Wednesdays race, Sophomore Bas Holland took the lead for the first two miles of the race with Sophomore Eliason Kabasenche and Junior Roman Romanyuk and few strides behind. In the last mile once again Kabasenche tracked down Holland and beat him in the sprint. Shortly afterwards Roman Romanyuk, Aron James, and Sebastien Lewis all finished before Cheney’s Second runner. Pullman ended up steamrolling Cheney 20-35, the biggest deficit between these two schools in recent years. The Pullman boys remain undefeated.
Congratulations to Pullman on their success, they will head over to Richland to race at the Max Jensen Richland Invite. Another Congratulations to all the Seniors; Billy Branson, Micah Brewer, Tristan Call, Chris Harris, Aron James, Spencer Jones, Amin Khatib, Zach Kunkel, Sebastien Lewis, Jacob Limburg, Jacob Pru, Nick Smith, Jacob Wadsworth, Charity Cordova, and Daniel Skinner.
